After winning first place at Berlin’s Division C Contest (Northeast Germany) on April 26th with an unusually long and appreciative applause from the audience, Khushi Pasquale will represent Mercury Club with her speech “The Best We Could” at the District 59 Conference in Krakow on May 16, 2014. For our newer members, let me put this in context.

District 59 is comprised of over 270 clubs scattered throughout the entire continental Europe (excluding UK). The District has grown so large that it will be divided into two new districts this coming June. The southern part of Europe will remain District 59 and the northern half of Europe (including us) will be newly-named District 95.

So this is an nostalgic event for the European Toastmasters. Conference organizers expect ca. 500 members to attend the three-day event.

The Best Speakers of 14 Divisions
Khushi will be competing against the “best of” from the other 14 Divisions. The winner has the opportunity to participate in the World Championship of Public Speaking this August in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

For the first time in Mercury history, we will be able to support Khushi’s upcoming costs to participate in the conference with 100 euros. This was made possible by Manjana Saleh who organized our first fundraising event and workshop guests Brent Kerrigan and Claudia Feest-Lieberknecht who kindly donated their expertise and time for this event.

This will be the 6th consecutive District Final Competitions where Mercury speakers are competing!
Here is the list of district level contestants who we are proud to have in our ranks:
Manjana Saleh; Fall Conference 2011, Basel; Humorous Speech Contest (2nd place)
Dyane Neiman; Fall Conference 2011 Basel; Table Topic Contestant
