I joined Mercury Toastmasters in 2010 and it has been an incredible learning curve since then. I had always had an interest in public speaking, but not many opportunities. But I felt that it was something I wanted to pursue. It’s a great way of learning by doing and you always get feedback. Over the years, I have improved so many skills and feel much more confident and comfortable now.
Toastmasters has also helped me to realize that I want to do public speaking professionally and I’m beginning to take first steps now towards a speaking career. I came across Toastmasters “by coincidence”, and it has become a very important part of my life. I don’t manage to go to every TM Meeting, but every time I do, I leave full of good energy and feeling invigorated. I really appreciate the warm welcoming atmosphere and the supportive attitude people have. Since we’re an English speaking club, we have a very international and diverse membership, and many of my TM colleagues have become friends.

World Class Speeches! That’s what we got last night. Every time I hear a Toastmaster speak I learn something new – how to deal with challenges, how to conquer fear, how to live life more fully. Sometimes the speeches are more informational – an explanation of climate change; an introduction to 3D printing. Learning in 7 minute chunks teaches me about the value of economy.
