Please welcome

IMG_2297Last night, Mercury members voted in 4 new members: Magdelena Rother, Daniela Diegelmann, Alex Krobbah, and Mounia Benbouchta.

Alex received a standing ovation for his icebreaker, “A.D.H.D.P.I.” about the positive aspects of having attention deficiency which allows the alpha part of our brain to leave reality and enter the creative world of daydreaming.

Alin’s speech, “Read a book, imagine a life” picked up on the theme imagination. His call for action was for us to read books to enrich our lives. Through books we can gain the insights of more lives to add to our single life experience.

Anna, our new DTM member from Toastmasters in Paris, gave a speech “Go and Shine” using a vivid story to carry her message. Our lives may seem stuck like a river whose water is frozen in winter, but eventually the sun does shine and that ice melts. She ended on a hopeful note: when we are feeling stuck, it’s a temporary situation. Our own ice will eventually melt and we will be in flow again. We will go again and shine again.

Robert was our table topic master for the first time and had a great idea that guest Sascha would like to steal for his own club. Robert had each speaker pick from two piles. The first piles consisted of famous people. The second pile consisted of professions. Leaving the match to chance, one speaker had to explain why Angelina Jolie decided to change her acting career to become an astronaut.

Our favorites for the evening were: Renko as evaluator. Robert for table topic master function. Guest Sheng Hung for table topic speaker. Alex for speech.
