This is how we do it:<\/p>\n<p><strong>President&#8217;s News<br \/><\/strong><em>President or a residing board member greets members and guests, and announces important news and events.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Members and Guests<br \/><\/strong><em>Introduce themselves before the meeting and during the break. At the end of the meeting guests are asked to give a brief feedback.<br \/><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Toastmaster of the Evening (TME)<br \/><\/strong><em>Introduces the evening\u2019s theme and each functionary.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Functionaries<\/strong><br \/><em>There are five functions to be filled. Each functionary speaks up and lets us know what they will be doing throughout the ev<\/em>ening.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Speeches<br \/><\/strong><em>Usually three speeches are delivered. Members work with different manuals provided by Toastmasters International.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mercury-toastmasters-berlin.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0597.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-158\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mercury-toastmasters-berlin.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0597.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_0597\" width=\"126\" height=\"94\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.mercury-toastmasters-berlin.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0597.jpg 2816w, http:\/\/www.mercury-toastmasters-berlin.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0597-300x225.jpg 300w, http:\/\/www.mercury-toastmasters-berlin.de\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_0597-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 126px) 100vw, 126px\" \/><\/a>15-Minute Intermission<br \/><\/strong><em>We stretch, stand up, mingle, make notes, and nibble on chocolate chip cookies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>Table Topic Master (TTM)<br \/><\/strong><em>Takes the stage and invites ca. three to five members and guests to come up and give an impromptu speech based on questions the TTM created<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>General Evaluator (GE)<br \/><\/strong><em>Takes over and introduces the three evaluators.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Evaluators<\/strong><br \/><em>Each speech that was delivered receives an evaluation with constructive and supportive feedback.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Functionaries<br \/><\/strong><em>Share their reports:<\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Grammarian:<br \/><\/strong><em>Introduces new words to members, comments on language usage during the course of the meeting, and provides examples of eloquence.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Timer:<br \/><\/strong><em>Times each speech, evaluation, and table topic to raise speakers\u2019 awareness of speech duration. Speakers will see a green light to keep speaking, yellow light to start coming to a close, and a red light to finish within 30 seconds.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Ah-Counter:<br \/><\/strong><em>Listens and counts how often speakers use filler words like &#8220;ah,&#8221; hence the name\u00a0<\/em><em>ah-counter<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Camera Operator:<br \/><\/strong><em>Records the speeches, evaluations, and table topics.<\/em><\/li>\n<li><strong>Listener:<br \/><\/strong><em>Asks comprehensive questions based on the three speeches.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>General Evaluator<br \/><\/strong><em>Gives feedback to each table topic speaker and evaluator. The GE evaluates the entire evening, noting the good, the bad, and the potential.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vote<br \/><\/strong><em>The audience decides on their favorite speakers, evaluator, and functionary of the evening.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>President or residing board member<br \/><\/strong><em>Announces our favorites. <\/em><em>We end with loud applause for the winners, fold up tables, pile up chairs, and round off the evening at a restaurant near by<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"#top\">Top<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Toastmaster meetings follow a similar structure worldwide, with slight variations.
